Hello, children, here's the party clown getting ready to put his make up on before arriving here to entertain you. His favourite trick, so watch out, is a tear making squirter bulb to either create magic tears or spray us all with vomit!
There is much surprise at Ken being outed as a fraudster and minor actor. However in this modern world of corruption, sleaze and pointless politicians, all they have left is drama and pretence. The real serious stuff is done under cover. It's the Mandarin class and their devoted allegiances to The Brussels machine, that really rule us with an iron fist and narcissistic greed for power.
I remember Bliar's arrival in Downing Street in 1997. Cheering ecstatic crowds and the appearance of total National joy at his election victory, was stage managed. I contrast these modern times with the sombre statements from Chamberlain with his piece of paper from Hitler. This honest, decent man is surrounded by genuine crowds interested in his efforts to avert war. Notwithstanding the hopelessness of his cause he was honest enough to try.
Such honesty no longer exists. I'm not sure why. The Boy tripping around the World right now is little more than a glorified snake oil or arms salesman. His brief is to boost the UK economy purely to buy himself another term in Office. These people only give up their perks reluctantly. Or in Bliar's case, when the personal wealth, through his time in office cultivating despots such as Gadaffi, was enormous enough to retain the personal jet lifestyle.
Many of us look longingly for when the theatre fails. Two occasions spring to mind. Snotty's Mrs Duffy moment. Here the mask and gurning grin as he got into his Limo not so much slipped as was torn for ever from his face! Then only this week "Crocodile" Ken slithered into view weeping at his own ridiculous, self-made production film.
It is funny, it does give us light relief. Unfortunately it doesn't put our lost pension funds back, our crazy Olympic billions back or anything we so long to have restored. When the travelling circuses and the victors pack up and retire to their lavish, publicly funded lives, the joke falls back heavily on us.
Regardless of whoever wins any election, the contingency plans are already in place. The smug mirth of the shadowy brokers is maintained. We pay for their sleazy Operas and productions. We pay big time. The reality of who pays the piper shown vividly in this piece about the upcoming French theatrical election. I guess we need all the entertainment we can get, just stop pretending it's anything more than that!
