Such a prescient, beautiful sentiment.

Where's The Leadership?

In Anything?

Whilst Westminster continues navel gazing the World's woes continue unaddressed. What happened to Obama's inaugural  fine words,  "We remain the most prosperous, powerful nation on Earth. Our workers are no less productive than when this crisis began. Our minds are no less inventive, our goods and services no less needed than they were last week or last month or last year. Our capacity remains undiminished. But our time of standing pat, of protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions - that time has surely passed. Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America."
Cameron's post election speech when he said,  "I do not believe that any government can be weak or soft on the issue of immigration which needs to be controlled properly, and the country's defences must be kept strong......."I also believe that on the basis of the election result that we achieved, it is reasonable to expect that the bulk of the policies in our manifesto should be implemented.
Remember that old song "It's only words"?
Today we have a far worse and expensive mess in Afghanistan and an unnecessary further expensive conflict in Libya. We are mired in global and National debt, with ever deepening issues plaguing the unreformed, useless banks. Taxation is colossal and we are not "all in it together" when the haves are still raping what little the have nots manage to garner.
Then there is the stubborn and frankly pathetic, egotistical, Federal EU dream, also aided and abetted by America. Here is a failed, (Forecast and always understood to be a gross mistake by the ordinary mortals most likely to have been damaged the most.) dreadful and utterly foolhardy political nightmare that has never spawned one courageous leader prepared to shout "The Emperor has no clothes"!
At 5pm BST, this afternoon, the European banks stress test results will be published. Regardless of any massaging and spin that will be employed the truth will be there to see. Further abject lack of leadership that has permitted the people behind these institutions to be bailed out without any consequence whatsoever. Their wealth and ill gotten riches are intact, whilst the pension funds and life savings of the masses has been used to pay drug cartels substantial interest, for the money laundering done, to rescue these totally corrupt financial organisations.
Yet in spite of all this unrest and uncertainty our political masters stumble from one crisis to another. Not one erstwhile leader among them with the courage and qualities of greatness needed to pull the plug on decades of failure unseen by them all. In The UK, from traitor Heath and his advisers, via Maggie to this Old  Etonian wimp and his henchmen, all cling to a Federal ambition benefiting none but those sucking the rest of us dry on a big, unwieldy, corrupt teat of bloated bureaucracy. An institution incapable of signing legitimate accounts. A monumental, rudderless, rusty, provision less hulk battered and grounded on the very sands it was created from. Never once has this wreck had one, not one, decent Captain.

  1. I voted to join a common European trading market, it is the perversion of that into this federalism we see today that is at the root of this evil empire.

As for leadership, the MPs expenses scandal showed us they are only in it for what they can get out of it, not for the good of our country.

We should have cleared the Augean stables then.

  2. Thanks Bill. "Augean stables" are now more like the picture!
